The Phoenix received the 2003 Preservation Achievements Grand Jury
Award given by the Greater Philadelphia Preservation Alliance.
The award honored Keating, Bower Lewis Thrower Architects, and
Powers & Company,
Inc.
“The jury was particularly impressed with the preservation of the building’s
historic interiors. Entrance lobbies on the east and west ends have been restored;
elevator lobbies preserved, including Tennessee marble wainscots and wood and
plaster crown moldings; and the original wood paneling, plaster ceiling moldings,
and marble fireplaces of the 16th floor executive offices incorporated into
